To mark this weeks national Recycle Week, (21st June – 27th June) mayor of London, Boris Johnson has started a campaign to encourage people in London to reuse and recycle electrical devices.

Its estimated that people in London throw away a massive 180,000 tonnes of electrical items every year only for them to end up at landfill. Many electrical items are put in the bin simply because people do not know where to dispose of them correctly.

Boris Johnson said “The growth of cheaper electrical goods has led to an increased tendency for people to throw away electrical goods without thinking that they have a value. We want to help people in London to find easier ways to pass on still re-usable items or to recycle them.”

The huge number of Internet sites helping people recycle electrical goods correctly is testimony to the fact that people want to do the right thing when it comes to recycling.
