Electrical Waste and Recycling Facts and Figures

Published by Stephen Roper on Tagged Recycling

Every year in the UK alone the amount of electrical waste we dispose of amounts to 1.2 million tonnes which would be enough to fill the new Wembley stadium over 6 times.

This is increasing at an extremely fast rate of 5% every year. Over 75% of this electrical waste is ending up in landfill sites where toxins from the components can end up contaminating the soil and even water. This can end up having a very bad effect on wildlife and other natural habitat living in the areas near by. If these landfill sites are located near human populated areas this electrical waste can even end up polluting our own soil and water supplies.
