Help Save Gorillas by Recycling Your Old Mobile

Mobile phones contain a mineral called coltan which is used in the electrical capacitors. The vast majority of the worlds coltan is mined in Democratic Republic of Congo where many Gorillas live. As coltan is mined for use in mobile phones this has opened the way for deforestation and Gorilla poaching.
In the last 5 years Gorilla numbers have dropped dramatically, numbers of the eastern lowland Gorilla have declined by 70% in the last 5 years. In 1994 there were just under 17,000 Gorillas in this area, now there are just 5000. Gorillas are poached mainly for their meat.
Many Australian zoos have started campaigns to collect old mobiles to recycle coltan and cut the future demand for coltan mining. You can recycle your old phone here and help the environment as well as the worlds Gorillas.
