Mobile Recycling Searches up 189% in Comparison to 12 months Ago
Published by Stephen Roper on Tagged Politics, RecyclingA recent study by Hitwise the online competitive intelligence service has found that internet searches related to mobile recycling has rose by 189% in the last 12 months.
During the period 17/05/08 – 16/05/09 searches for keywords including “phone recycling”, “recycle mobile phones” and “mobile phone recycling” have quadrupled.
More people than ever are now looking to earn some fast cash and help save the environment at the same time by recycling their old phones. This has seen several mobile recycling sites emerge to meet the demand including Envirofone, Mazuma Mobile and Fonebank which are currently the most popular.
The director of Hitwise, Robin Goad agreed that the major rise in searches was driven by people’s financial reasons as well as concern for the environment.
Other UK internet search terms to have quadrupled in the past 12 months include “recycle mobile phones for cash” and “recycling for cash.”
