UK Recycling Waste Shipped to Third World Countries

Published by Stephen Roper on Tagged Recycling

A three year investigation by the Environment Agency has found that gangs in the UK have shipped electronic waste that should be recycled to third world countries to be dumped.

At least 30 groups have been involved and have sent electronic waste including broken computers and TV monitors to third world countries including Africa, Asia and the Far East.

A recent shipment of computers and monitors was intercepted on their way to Africa. If the items which are no longer allowed in UK landfill sites had made it to Africa’s landfill sites they would had leaked dangerous chemicals into the soil.

The UK’s reputation for being environmentally friendly is being destroyed by gangs of criminals that are only interested in making money and do not care about the effects on the environment.
