Micro USB Charger

This Week the ITU (International Telecommunications Union) has approved the creation of a standard for an energy efficient universal charger which will fit in all mobile phones regardless of the make or
model. This will lead to fewer phone chargers being manufactured in the future and a smaller environmental footprint (and lower production costs) for the mobile industry.

The new charger will be based on the Micro-USB format which means that you will be able to use it for every mobile you own and even charge your phone from your PC or laptop.

Director of ITU’s Telecommunication Standardisation Bureau, Malcolm Johnson said, “This is a significant step in reducing the environmental impact of charging mobiles, it also has the benefit of making the use of mobile phones more straightforward.”

Makes us wonder why Universal Chargers weren’t created a long time ago…
